Why Workforce Resilience Is Not a Wellness Program

When an organization recognizes that its people are strained, the response that most readily presents itself is the wellness program. Such programs address symptoms as they appear in individuals, while the conditions that produce the strain remain untouched. Workforce resilience works the other way, treating the system as the thing to be designed well rather than the person as the thing to be fixed. Only the systemic approach produces lasting capacity, because only the systemic approach addresses where that capacity actually resides.
